AIMstor CDP

Faster Recovery Point Objectives? Yes You Can
The AIMstor Operations Palette includes CDP, or, Continuous Data Protection, which is similar to Backup, but with some key differences described below. The flexibility of AIMstor CDP provides for a restore capability that is resource distributed, fully automated, real time policy aware, and yet centrally managed and controlled. AIMstor can support anything from simple, to the most complex of environments.
- Data loss time window is too long
- AIMstor CDP copies data off system real time reducing your data loss exposure and providing you up to the minute recovery points.
- Need to perform granular recovery
- Unlike other CDP products, AIMstor provides the ability to selectively recover data down to the directory and file level.
- Not all my data is valuable
- AIMstor CDP provides the ability to selectively exclude certain data sets from being replicated thereby avoiding unwanted data being replicated and stored.
- I need more than just CDP
- AIMstor delivers Backup / Archiving / Replication / Continuous Data Protection and Data Tracking in a single package with a single footprint. Operations can be mixed without generating unnecessary data duplication or redundant data traffic.
Configuration of AIMstor CDP takes seconds, and can be easily mixed together with other Operations, such as Backup, Replication, Versioning for Archive, Compliance and Information Security requirements, and more. The result is an unmatched ability to create and implement comprehensive, closed-loop, end-to-end policies in minutes.
- Feature
- Benefit
- Granular CDP
- 60 second, point in time restore capability.
- Offline CDP
- Recovery points are maintained during offline periods.
- Eliminates Backup Windows
- Because data is captured as it changes causing no bulk data transfers or file system scans, and because the backup process causes no overhead to the source machine, there is no longer a requirement for a backup window.
- Eliminates Client Side Overhead
- Unlike traditional backup processes, AIMstor does not scan client or server file systems looking for changed data.
- Byte-Level Change Aware
- Only the data that is changed is transmitted. For instance, if a 10KB email is added to a 3GB PST file, then only the 10KB change to the PST file will be sent. A traditional backup process will first have to scan the whole file system looking for changes and then transmit the entire 3GB PST file.
- Real-Time Data Movement
- Changed byte transfer removes the need for a backup window. Using real time data movement of changed bytes for backup, changed data is moved instantly for backup.
- Reduced Overhead
- Live deduplicated backups vastly reduce CPU, system and network overhead on the source machine. Data is captured incrementally as it is changed or created, then transferred.
- Fast and Efficient Restore
- No layered restore process. Although data is captured byte by byte incrementally, data is indexed so a full image is available, and restored as a single stream equivalent to restoring from a full backup. Provides ultra fast restores, and a consistent point in time backup of the complete dataset.
- Browse Snapshots or
Search for Restore - Online full restores that are already deduplicated and can be browsed are always at hand. All data undergoes Tag-Store-Index process to make it Search-Ready, increases speed for file restore, or file version retrieval by factors of up 100X over legacy products.
- Source Deduplication
- Utilizing several deduplication schemes, from the point of primary data change awareness, to transfer of data, and repository single instancing, AIMstor reduces storage capacity needed many fold. See data deduplication.
- Unified Backup
- Unifies Live Backup with Scheduled Backup, Source and Target Deduplication, Continuous Data Data Production (CDP) and Bare Metal Restore within a single application with a single interface for a unified workflow.
- Unified Data Protection
- Combines Unified Backup with Real-time Replication for Server Failover, and File Versioning and Archive into a single application for end-to-end data management and unified workflow.
- Centralizes Backups
- Backups from multiple nodes, laptops, desktops, file servers and application servers, for all-in-one, high performance, backup.
- Event Notification
- Create notification events based on log events. An advanced filter system allows events to be triggered by very broad or very specific criteria with event handlers that can email or write to the system log. The system is expandable so users could can their own event systems.

The Restore view provides a powerful Search window. Because all data is Tagged-Stored-Indexed, AIMstor can help you search by combining many different parameters, such as Date Created or Modified, Repository, Owner, Process, Size, Policy, Host name, Repository, and many more.
